I like a pretty terminal.
sudo apt-get install zsh fonts-powerline
wget https://github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/raw/master/tools/install.sh -O - | zsh
chsh -s `which zsh`
# restart the computer
sudo shutdown -r 0
Install donf:
sudo apt-get install dconf-cli
Install solarized, I recommend picking option 1 both times for dark theme and seebi' dircolors-solarized
git clone git://github.com/sigurdga/gnome-terminal-colors-solarized.git ~/.solarized
cd ~/.solarized
./install.sh
Add RBenv to Zsh
echo 'export PATH="$HOME/.rbenv/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshenv
echo 'eval "$(rbenv init -)"' >> ~/.zshenv
echo 'source $HOME/.zshenv' >> ~/.zshrc
exec $SHELL
Replace ~/.zshrc with this (don't forget to change default user if you are not me!):
# If you come from bash you might have to change your $PATH.
# export PATH=$HOME/bin:/usr/local/bin:$PATH
# Path to your oh-my-zsh installation.
export ZSH="/home/vardy/.oh-my-zsh"
# Set name of the theme to load --- if set to "random", it will
# load a random theme each time oh-my-zsh is loaded, in which case,
# to know which specific one was loaded, run: echo $RANDOM_THEME
# See https://github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/wiki/Themes
ZSH_THEME="agnoster"
eval `dircolors ~/.dir_colors/dircolors`
# Set list of themes to pick from when loading at random
# Setting this variable when ZSH_THEME=random will cause zsh to load
# a theme from this variable instead of looking in ~/.oh-my-zsh/themes/
# If set to an empty array, this variable will have no effect.
# ZSH_THEME_RANDOM_CANDIDATES=( "robbyrussell" "agnoster" )
